UK Medical Research Council (MRC) is offering training fellowship to undertake two years MSc training in Medical Statistics. Applicants of sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Applicants must demonstrate that either English is their first language or that they have undertaken an academic qualification at least equivalent to a UK Bachelor’s degree taught in the medium of English.
Course Level: Fellowship is available to undertake MSc training at LSHTM followed by a year working as a statistician at one of partner centers in Africa.
Study Subject: This fellowship, which is funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), provides support for two years training in medical statistics.
Scholarship Award: This support is intended to foster excellence in the field of medical statistics and epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship will provide costs for fees, stipend (GBP 15,000 per annum) and return air travel.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for this Scholarship:-
-be resident in and a national of a country in sub-Saharan Africa, and
-be in possession of an excellent first degree with a background in mathematics, statistics or a related subject, and
-have at least 1 year of work experience in medical statistics or epidemiology Support will not be given as a supplement to other funding, nor to students who have funding from other sources.
Nationality: Students of sub-Saharan African (Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) countries can apply for this training fellowship.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of an excellent first degree with a background in mathematics, statistics or a related subject.
English language/Test Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate that either English is their first language or that they have undertaken an academic qualification at least equivalent to a UK Bachelor’s degree taught in the medium of English. If they need to take an English test they must arrange to take it in plenty of time to receive their test result before the start of the course. English language tests taken more than two years before the start of the planned start date are not acceptable and they must arrange to take another test. They must achieve the minimum required scores in all test components and send evidence of their English language ability before the start of the course. Details of the English tests accepted by the School with minimum required scores are as follows: Cambridge Advanced English; IELTS – The British Council test; PEARSON PTE ACADEMIC; TOEFL – Internet Based Test.
