The new Chinese Government Scholarship- Changchun University of Science and Technology Program is now available on offer for Non-Chinese students in China.

This is a full scholarship established by MOE to support Changchun University of Science and Technology to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China.

Changchun University of Science and Technology is a key university in China, previously known as Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and must have demonstrated the ability to perform independent work. They must also posess excellent communication skills.

Advantageous Skills:

Experience with deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Theano, Caffe, etc. is of advantage.

SINGA Awards are given every year to top students from all over the world. Awards are available for pursuing PhD studies either at National University of Singapore (NUS) or Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

They want to encourage more such exchanges, to build friendships and mutual understanding. This is why they are introducing a new Singapore International Graduate Award (or SINGA), for international students to do their Ph.D. training in a multi-disciplinary environment in Singapore. 240 SINGA Awards will be given every year to top students from all over the world.

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).   • Scholarship Award: Scholarship includes:
    • Allowance: 117,000 yen per month. The scholarship is cancelled in principle if the recipient is absent from the university or preparatory Japanese-teaching institution for an extended period. In case that the recipient research in a designated region, 2,000 or 3,000 yen per month will be added. The monetary amount each year may be subject to change due to budgetary reasons. The scholarship will be also cancelled in principle in the following situations. If the recipient has been receiving the scholarship despite his/her falling under any of the following situations, the recipient will be ordered to return the amount of scholarship that he/she received during the period wherein he/she was involved with any of the following situations: The recipient is determined to have made a false statement on his/her application; The recipient violates any article of his/her pledge to MEXT; The recipient violates any Japanese laws and is sentenced to imprisonment with or without work for life or for a period of exceeding 1 year;  The recipient is subject to disciplinary action by the university, including expulsion(The scholarship payment may be stopped during the period up until punishment is decided by the university, etc.);  It has been determined that it will be impossible for the recipient to complete the course within the standard course period because of poor academic grades or suspension or leave of absence;  The recipient’s residence status has changed to one other than “College Student”? The recipient has received a scholarship from another institution (excluding those specified for research expenditures);  The recipient has proceeded to a higher level of education without receiving approval for an extension of the period of the scholarship.
    • Tuition and Other Fees: Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities will be paid by MEXT.
    • Travelling CostsTransportation to Japan: In principle, MEXT stipulates the travel schedule and route, and provides an economy-class airline ticket for the flight from the international airport closest to the recipient’s residence (in principle, the country of nationality) to Narita International Airport or to any other international airport on the normal route to the accepting university. The grantee shall bear at his/her own expense all costs related to domestic travel from the grantee’s residence to the nearest international airport, airport taxes, airport usage fees, special taxes necessary for travel, travel expenses within Japan (including airline transit costs), travel insurance expenses, etc. The grantee shall also bear at his/her own expense travel and lodging costs incurred in a third country if the grantee must travel to a third country before coming to Japan for visa purposes because there are no Japanese diplomatic missions in his/her country. In principle, MEXT will not provide the airline ticket in cases when the grantee arrives in Japan from a country other than the country of nationality because the grantee had moved to the country before the arrival in Japan. Transportation from Japan: Grantees shall graduate the accepting university and return to the home country by the end of the final month of the period of scholarship (Section 4 above) designated by MEXT. Based on the Application by the grantee, MEXT, in principle, shall provide an economy-class airline ticket from Narita International Airport or the international airport used for the normal route to and from the accepting university to the international airport (in principle, in the country of nationality) nearest to the returning recipient’s residence. The grantee shall bear at his/her own expense all costs related to travel from the grantee’s residence to the nearest international airport, airport taxes, airport usage fees, special taxes necessary for travel, travel expenses within the country of nationality (including airline transit costs), travel insurance expenses, etc.
    • Note 1: Should the grantee return to the home country before the end of the period of scholarship due to personal circumstances, or reasons 8. (1) ?~? above, MEXT will not pay for the return travel expenses
    • Note 2: If a grantee continues to stay in Japan after the scholarship period has ended, he/she will not be paid travel expenses to return to the home country for a temporary return.

  • Modelling ventilation system with phase change material based climate module for increasing system efficiency and flexibility, The project aims to significantly increase energy efficiency and flexibility of standard ventilation systems by use of phase change based climate modules. It is the hypothesis that such phase change modules can improve energy flexibility and provide large capabilities of demand response, peak load shifting and management. The PhD project will develop an overall energy model for the proposed PCM-based ventilation system considering various functional and operational parameters, to aid system design and size as well as the selection of the proper phase change material. In addition, the model will serve as a backbone to develop a reliable controller and implement advanced control strategies to reduce peak power while still maintaining thermal comfort and good indoor air quality. The PhD research is part of the research project NeGeV.
  • Framework for the optimal combination of models and optimization schemes for model predictive control, The project will target the issue of application of various types of models (grey- and black-box) and optimization methods (gradient-based, evolutionary, stochastic) in relation to MPC in buildings, districts and grids. The PhD research is part of the center’s contribution to IBPSA Project 1.
  • Multi-agent based modelling and simulation for the smart energy sector,
    The project will target the development of a multi-agent based model of the smart energy sector and use this model to investigate how influential factors relating to climate, environment, social behaviour, technology, economics, policy and regulations affect the smart energy evolution. The PhD research contributes in general to the assessment of business models for the smart energy solutions developed in the center’s ongoing research projects, and in particular to the EU Interreg project IoTStyring
  • End-to-end cybersecurity in smart energy systems,
    The project will address cybersecurity issues related to end-to-end cybersecurity in the smart energy sector. In particular,  the project will focus on cybersecurity issues for integration of Smart Buildings with the Smart Grid. The PhD research is part of the EU Interreg project IoTStyring.
  • AI and Big Data drove decision support tools for energy efficient horticulture production,
    The project will address the application of AI and Big Data methods in the development of decision support tools for increasing the energy-efficiency of greenhouse cultivation while guaranteeing crop yield and quality. This PhD project is part of the EU Interreg project SmartGreen.
