  • Four three-year Postdoctoral Fellowships will be awarded this year. The stipend for each of the three years of the fellowship will be approximately $86,600.

Finnish Government is pleased to offer a range of scholarships to students of high academic ability for 2018 entry. Scholarships are available for 3-9 months for doctoral level studies and research at Finnish Universities or Public Research Institutes.

  • A monthly allowance of EUR 1500. The allowance is sufficient for one person only.
  • Expenses due to travel, international or in Finland, are not covered by the programme. Scholarship recipients are recommended to make arrangements for sufficient insurance coverage for their stay in Finland. Applications for the Finnish Government Scholarship Pool funding should be made to the appropriate authority in the applicant’s country. The scholarship authorities in each country are invited to present applications for up to 10 candidates for the Finnish Government Scholarship Pool. The announcements for the opening of the annual application round are usually sent out from CIMO at the end of September annually. Documents required for an application:

  • A completed and signed application form
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Copies of latest diplomas
  • Two letters of recommendation

These Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study:

1) Bachelor/Master/Doctoral study programmes plus a one-year preparatory course of the Czech language (which is combined with other field-specific training). Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools, or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree courses, as applicable, who can enrol only in study programmes in which instruction is given in the Czech language. Applications are now open for 2018/2019 Chevening Scholarships and some Chevening Fellowships. Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from all over the world to develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.

Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme offers awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study for a master’s degree in any subject at any UK university.

The significance of the Chevening scholarship scheme rests on its large scope – approximately 700 scholarships are awarded each year to students from more than 110 countries, allowing students from developing countries to access British tertiary education institutions, some of which are of a very high standard as determined by international rankings.

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

Types of scholarship
The research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level.

Research scholarships are awarded for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and the two federal institutes of technology. Only candidates nominated by an academic mentor at one of these higher education institutions will be considered.

Art scholarships are open to art students wishing to pursue an initial master’s degree in Switzerland.
Art scholarships are awarded for study at any Swiss conservatory or university of the arts. Only those who have already been awarded a place to study may apply. This scholarship is available to students from a limited number of countries only.

  • Student winners, with the exception of the International Alumnus of the Year, will be awarded a scholarship of up to $10,000 to support their study activities at a Victorian education institution. The winner of the Premier’s Award for International Student of the Year will receive an additional scholarship of up to $10,000 to support their study activities at a Victorian education institution.
  • The scholarship must go towards the cost of course fees/and or materials at a Victorian education institution.
  • Any amount of the scholarship not claimed within 24 months from the date of the Victorian International Education Awards 2017 presentation ceremony will be forfeited.
  • The Department* will pay the scholarship directly to the award recipient upon evidence being provided to the satisfaction of the Department that the cost of the claimed course fees and/or materials have been incurred by the award recipient. Payments may also be made in installments.
  • Each category has specific criteria as outlined within the Award descriptions. Applicants must meet the criteria for the relevant Award to be considered a valid entry. Non-compliance with entry criteria will be sufficient reason for the Victorian International Education Awards organizing committee to reject the application.
  • All applications will be judged in a competitive framework.
  • The decisions of the Judging Panel are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
