Fully Funded Scholarships in USA at University of Notre Dame, 2018

Deadline: December 15, 2017.

The University of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies is proud to announce PhD scholarship in the field of Peace Studies to study in the USA. The Kroc Institute provides PhD students full financial support in the form of fellowships, graduate assistantships, and tuition scholarships, plus a stipend for living expenses for five years.

The aim of the fellowship is to provide full finance to the students.

Researchers at Notre Dame advance human understanding through research, scholarship, and creative endeavour in order to be a repository for knowledge and a powerful means for doing well in the world. Notre Dame Research supports and encourages innovation in more than twenty core facilities, as well as in a number of key areas of research, including cancer, environmental change, global health, and much more, with faculty finding their homes in one of Notre Dame’s seven colleges or schools.

Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Graduates are fully credentialed in one of the six disciplines as well as in peace studies. They are prepared for positions in research and teaching — in anthropology, history, political science, psychology, sociology, theology, or peace studies — and for contributions to peacebuilding practice.

Students apply for admission to one of these distinct yet related programs:

  • PhD in Anthropology & Peace Studies
  • PhD in History & Peace Studies
  • PhD in Political Science & Peace Studies
  • PhD in Psychology & Peace Studies
  • PhD in Sociology & Peace Studies
  • PhD in Theology & Peace Studies

Scholarship Award: The Kroc Institute provides PhD students full financial support in the form of fellowships, graduate assistantships, and tuition scholarships, plus a stipend for living expenses for five years. Students are trained in the research methodologies associated with one of the six disciplines and immersed in the questions and findings of interdisciplinary peace research. Incoming PhD students normally receive either a fellowship or assistantship that provides full tuition, plus a stipend for living expenses for five years, contingent upon satisfactory progress in the program. Living-expense stipends for the 2016-17 academic year are $21,500. Students receiving graduate assistantships are assigned to work either on faculty research projects or to assist faculty with teaching or professional peacebuilding. If students enter with advanced standing and transfer credits, the number of years of support may be less than five.

Funding may also be available, in full or in part, beyond five years when warranted. Additional funding may be available for summer travel to support research, although this is provided on a competitive basis and not available for all students every year.

The Kroc Institute encourages its graduate students to seek outside fellowships for financial support, both before arriving and after coming to campus. Such awards not only provide financial assistance but also act as formal recognition of the student’s accomplishments and promise.
