The IPENZ Foundation encourages New Zealand school leavers to study for qualifications in engineering and technology by offering annual scholarships to first-year students to help with their university costs.

The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) is a not-for-profit professional body representing the engineering profession in New Zealand. It has around 16,000 members who are either engineer or have a special interest in engineering, usually practising in New Zealand.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing the undergraduate program.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Engineering.

Scholarship Award: In 2017 the IPENZ Foundation will offer:

  • Up to five national scholarships at $4000 each
  • Up to eight regional scholarships at $4000 each

  • IPENZ Foundation Engineer’s National Scholarship for BE or BE (Hons): The IPENZ Foundation Engineer’s National Scholarship is available to students that will be studying for a four-year Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree.
  • IPENZ Foundation Engineer’s National Scholarship for Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree: The IPENZ Foundation Engineer’s National Scholarship is available to students that will be studying for a three-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree.
  • IPENZ Foundation Regional Scholarship: The regional scholarship is available to those located in the following branch regions: Hawke’s Bay, Nelson-Marlborough, Otago, South Canterbury, Tauranga, and West Coast.

Nationality: Applicants from New Zealand can apply for these scholarships.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must be

  • A New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
  • Secondary school student that is completing Years 12 or 13 in 2016, or left school at the end of 2015 and is currently participating in a “gap year”

Computer Science Undergraduate Scholarships in New Zealand, 2016

The University of Waikato is offering Computer Science Scholarship for New Zealand residents and non-residents enrolled in a New Zealand high school. These scholarships will cover tuition fees payable for the first year of study towards a BCMS, BSc or BE degree (in one of the computing streams) at Waikato University.

The purpose of the University of Waikato Computer Science Scholarship Examination is to determine whether new students have sufficient proficiency in the subject to merit placement in the more senior papers.

The University of Waikato, informally Waikato University, is a comprehensive university in Hamilton, New Zealand, with a satellite campus located in Tauranga.

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide satisfactory evidence of English language proficiency, generally in the form of an IELTS or TOEFL score.

  • Any student awarded a University of Waikato Computer Science Scholarship must meet the entry requirements for the degree they choose to do.
  • The scholarship examination is open to Year 12 and Year 13 students only

• The details of two referees
