Campus El Gouna was established to act as a scientific and academic field office of Technische Universität Berlin on the Red Sea in Egypt. In its new satellite Campus in El Gouna, TU Berlin offers three Master degree programs and furthermore great possibilities for science, research and development and events of all kind. Campus El Gouna is a unique public-private partnership (PPP) project in the field of education export. It was financed by TUB alumnus Samih Sawiris and opened its doors in October 2012.

The FH Aachen – Aachen University of Applied Sciences is one of the biggest Fachhochschulen in Germany with roughly 11,300 students, 220 professors, 300 contract lecturers, and 340 assistants. It is specialized in certain topical areas.

Scholarship Award: Each month, scholarship recipients are paid € 300. The scholarship is awarded for a year, and it is paid out during university vacation as well. Moreover, contact is established between the respective scholarship sponsor (generally, a regional business enterprise) and the scholarship recipients to allow them to get acquainted with each other.   • A formal requirement for the awarding of a scholarship is being registered as a full student at the FH Aachen. British Council IELTS Awards for International Students in Germany or Abroad, 2017

Are you planning to sit the IELTS test in order to further your studies? With the British Council-IELTS Award you could win up to £10,000 to help cover the cost of your tuition fees.

Applications are invited for British Council-IELTS Award to study at an undergraduate or postgraduate level at an institution of higher education in Germany. International students are eligible to apply for this award.

The British Council-IELTS Award award is worth from a minimum of £3,000 up to a maximum of £10,000 depending on the tuition fees of the institution attended by the winner and will go towards the cost of tuition fees of the individual’s selected course.

Course Level: Award is available to pursue the postgraduate and undergraduate programme.

Study Subject: Award is available to learn any of courses offered.

Scholarship Award: The successful applicant will receive an award up to a maximum of £10,000 to cover tuition fees for an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at an institution of higher education which accepts IELTS as one of the entry requirements. The payment will be made directly to the educational organisation where the successful applicant will undertake the course of study.

Scholarship can be taken in Germany or Abroad

Eligibility:  To be eligible to apply for the IELTS Award 2017 you must:

  • Be aged 18 years or over on 30 June 2017
  • Have taken an IELTS test at a British Council centre in Germany and received an official Test Report Form (TRF) dated between 6 June 2016 and 2 June 2017 issued by the British Council in Germany
  • Have achieved a minimum overall band score of 6.5, plus a minimum score of 6.5 in each of the four components of the IELTS test
  • Be planning to enrol in the 2017–18 academic year (i.e. starting August 2017 onwards) on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme taught in English at a university or other institution of higher education in Germany or abroad, which accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements (check the official recognition list Opens in a new tab or window.). The tuition fees of the programme of choice are a minimum of £3,000 for one academic year.
  • Be able to provide an acceptance letter from the relevant educational organisation by 30 June 2017 at the latest.

Scholarships for graduates of German Schools Abroad (Deutsche Auslandsschulen): These scholarships are open to students currently enrolled at a German School Abroad (Deutsche Auslandsschule, as recognized by the Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen) and those who have completed their secondary education there.

Nationality: Women and candidates from outside Germany are therefore particularly encouraged to apply for a scholarship.

Germany Scholarships

How to Apply: The application to the scholarship program is based on a successful completion of the Assessment Center. Selected applicants will be encouraged to apply for a scholarship based on the result of the Assessment Center.

If you are eligible for a Frankfurt School scholarship, you will automatically be considered for all scholarships offered and selected for a scholarship fitting your profile.

The scholarships are exclusively for applicants starting in the first semester in August 2017. Scholarships will only be granted during the admissions process and before study start, not during an ongoing study program.

Application Deadline: Frankfurt School awards the Bachelor of Science scholarships continuously throughout the admission process on a “first come first serve” basis. Therefore we recommend to apply as soon as possible to the BSc program starting in August 2017. Final application deadline is May 31, 2017.

United Nations Volunteer Internship Programme for Young People from UN Member Countries

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is awarded to young people from UN member States interested in contributing to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV provides the opportunity for a limited number of internships at its headquarters in Bonn, Germany.

The UNV Internship Programme offers the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNV’s work and is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in development and volunteerism. It may also complement other studies such as international relations, communications, media relations and social sciences.

The objective is to enhance the intern’s educational experience through practical work assignments and to allow selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the United Nations.

Eligibility

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Completed undergraduate degree (Bachelor) and current enrollment in a Masters degree or equivalent. Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible;
  • Field of study: Development-related fields such as economics, international relations, anthropology, sociology, public or business administration, or environmental studies. Other fields of study may be considered depending on the type of assignment;
  • Language skills: Written and spoken proficiency in English and preferably in an additional official UN Language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese);
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of development and the work of international organisations.

Immediate family members of UNV staff are not eligible to apply.

Internship benefits
The purpose of the Internship Programme is to complement an intern’s studies, not to lead to further employment with the organization. However, a number of interns, having completed their studies and met the necessary requirements, have gone on to further assignments with UNV, UNDP or elsewhere in the United Nations system. Note that there is no promise of employment upon completion of an internship with UNV.

Financial aspects, expenses and medical benefits:

  • The Internship Programme operates on a non-remunerative basis. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or his sponsoring institution or government.
  • UNV accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance for the intern or for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness during the internship period. Applicants are required to provide evidence of adequate medical insurance coverage.
  • UNV is not responsible for any claims by an intern or third party in the case of loss or damage to property or death or personal injury as a result of actions or omissions on the part of the intern during the internship period.

United Nations Scholarships at University of Bonn in Germany for Developing Countries, 2017

The University of Bonn and the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) are offering up to eight fully funded scholarships for developing countries. These scholarships are available for pursuing Joint Master of Science (M.Sc.) programme “Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security.”

The ultimate goal of the scholarship is to foster intercultural exchange and enable the students to contribute to the sustainable development of their home countries by applying the knowledge they acquired during the study program.

Non-native English speaking applicants must prove sufficient proficiency in the English language.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Joint Master of Science (M.Sc.) programme

Study Subject: Scholarships are “Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security.”

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must possess a first, higher education qualification (Bachelor’s Degree) in Geography or a related / comparable professionally certified study programme. Out of all higher education qualifications earned (Bachelor’s, Master’s, additional academic coursework, etc.) applicants must have accumulated at least 100 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) within courses related to the three following areas: Human Geography and Social Sciences with a focus on spatial patterns, society, development; Science methodology and empirical research methods; Physical Geography, Geosciences and Environmental Sciences with a focus on Earth System Science.
  • A strong motivation to contribute to the area of Human Security and management of risks related to Environmental Change is a pre-requisite to study in this Master’s Programme.
  • Applicants should be highly motivated to learn in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related professional experience is required for candidates from developing countries who additionally wish to be considered for a scholarship under the Development-Related Postgraduate programmes (Epos) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Nationality: Citizens of developing country can apply for these scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Eligible candidates should fulfil the following requirements in addition to the general eligibility criteria for the Master’s programme:

  • Being a candidate from a “Developing Country” (according to the classification of the DAAD)
  • Having at least two years of practical work experience (e.g. with an NGO, GO, or the private sector) in a field related to the study programme
  • Having graduated from the Bachelor no longer than five years ago
  • Having completed no other Master in a similar field of studies
  • Aiming at a career as a practitioner in a field related to the programme of study

English Language Requirement: Non-native English speaking applicants must prove sufficient proficiency in the English language.

Germany Scholarships

How to Apply: A completed application packet consists of the following documents:

  1. Completed and signed application form
    2. A signed Résumé/CV A current résumé including a chronological listing of employment and other significant activities must be submitted with any application.
    3. Official transcripts: Applicants must submit an official transcript from each college or university in which they were enrolled for any period of time, showing all courses, grades and degrees received
  • Only transcripts that have been certified by the university where the degree was awarded will be accepted
  • In cases where the transcript is written in any other language than English, a certified translation of the transcript into English or German is also required
  • Translated versions can be certified either by the originating university or an official national or international institution
  1. Letter of motivation: A written statement, one to two pages in length, describing their motivation, area of proposed research, background, past work in the intended field of study, plans for further postgraduate study and any other information they feel is relevant. Applicants who are currently registered in a postgraduate programme at another university should explain why they wish to change programmes.
    5. For non-native English speakers or applicants where English is not the official language, an English language proficiency certificate.
    6. Copy of Bachelor Thesis or academic essay written as part of the fulfillment of the first degree (preferably in English).
    7. If the candidate wishes to be considered for the Epos funding by the DAAD the candidate should add the DAAD application form, a motivation letter with reference to the current occupation, professional letters of recommendation from your employer (with recent date, stamped and signed), academic letters of recommendation from your university (with recent dates, stamped and signed), as well as a confirmation of employment from the employer in your home country and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment upon your return home.
    8. Other relevant documents to support your application:
  • Further certificates on professional experience and expertise (recommended for Epos applicants)
  • Additional Certified Transcripts in cases where additional academic credits were earned outside of Degrees awarded

  • Have completed, or are in the process of completing, a BS or equivalent degree in the geosciences or a related field.

Selection Criteria for IPODI Fellowship Program

  • Every application is evaluated by three external reviewers (at least two of them international), who are distinguished experts in the same area of research as the proposals they assess.
  • The external reviewers are asked to evaluate the proposal with regard to scientific and personal qualification, quality of the proposal, career perspectives and mentoring perspectives.
  • During its first meeting the IPODI Selection Committee compiles a pre-final ranking list on the basis of the results of the external reviews.
  • The highest-ranking candidates are invited for interviews. During its second meeting the IPODI Selection Committee conducts personal interviews with the prospective candidates.
  • The cooperating professor of the TU Berlin will also be invited to the interview.
  • After the interviews the Selection Committee compiles a final ranking list for funding recommendation on the basis of the results of the external reviews and the results of the interviews.

Scholarship Application Method

Applications have to be submitted in English via the IPODI Application Portal.  Required documents include:

  • An innovative and independent research proposal and a time plan demonstrating how the proposed objectives are to be achieved,
  • A letter of motivation detailing career perspectives and motivation to apply for IPODI,

Study in Germany with DAAD/MIPLC Scholarship for Students from Developing Countries 2017/2018

The Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) is a part of the DAAD’s scholarship program for “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses.

The German Academic Exchange Service or DAAD (German: Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) is the largest German support organisation in the field of international academic co-operation.
DAAD is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self-governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art)

Eligibility Criteria

Please also refer to the brochure for “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses” for more information. Where MIPLC and DAAD have differing requirements, assume that the stricter requirement will be applied.

You are eligible for the DAAD scholarship for “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses” if you fulfill the following formal requirements:

  • You hold at least a four-year Bachelor’s degree (or a three-year Bachelor’s degree plus a further degree), completed with above-average results.
  • You received your latest degree no more than six years ago.
  • You have at least two years of full-time professional experience gained in a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country (university staff and academics are generally not taken into account). To meet this requirement, it is sufficient if you have completed the two years by the time the program starts in October. In any case, the experience must have been gained after the completion of your first university degree.
  • Your English test scores meet the MIPLC requirements.

Due to the high volume of applications, we have to apply these criteria very strictly. If you do not fulfill them, you will not be considered for the DAAD scholarship. However, you are still welcome to apply for admission to the MIPLC, provided you fulfill the MIPLC admission criteria

Scholarship Worth:

  • The scholarship recipient(s) will get a full tuition waiver from the MIPLC.
  • The DAAD will pay the scholarship recipient(s) a monthly stipend of EUR 750.00. As a rule, the scholarship additionally includes certain payments towards health, accident and liability insurance coverage in Germany.
  • In addition, the DAAD will generally pay an appropriate travel allowance, unless these costs are covered by the home country or by another funding source.
  • Furthermore, the DAAD will also pay a study and research allowance. Last but not least, the scholarship covers a mandatory two-month German course before the start of the MIPLC LL.M. program.
  • The scholarship does not cover additional costs, e.g. your enrollment fees or the fees for a semester ticket for public transport in Munich.

Application Procedure

To apply for this scholarship, please proceed as follows:

  1. Please refer to the DAAD program brochure 2017/18 and read the information carefully.
  2. Determine whether you are eligible to apply by DAAD and MIPLC standards, keeping in mind that where MIPLC and DAAD have differing requirements, the stricter requirements prevail.
  3. Apply for admission to the MIPLC (please refer to the How to Apply page).
  4. When you come to the end of the online application form, check “I would like to apply for the DAAD scholarship” and complete the MIPLC Financial Assistance Application Form that opens automatically (please refer to the Financial Assistance Application Instructions).
  5. Print the forms and add all required documentation, as per the instructions provided.
  6. Download and complete the DAAD Scholarship Application Form and add the other documents required by the DAAD (please refer to the DAAD brochure; NB: the MIPLC does not require a research proposal). You only have to submit one copy of each document, even if a document, e.g. your CV, is required by both MIPLC and DAAD.
  7. Make sure that your file is complete, including all three application forms
    (the MIPLC application form for admission; the MIPLC application form for financial assistance, and the DAAD application form for the scholarship)
    and all the required documents. Otherwise, your application cannot be processed. Please note that we only need the original application package, no additional copies.
  8. Make copies of all application documents. If your are awarded the scholarship, you will have to upload electronic copies of these documents to the DAAD’s system.
  9. Send your application: Please submit your application directly to the MIPLC, unless you are from Cameroon, in which case you must submit your application through the German Embassy in your country. Your complete file must reach the MIPLC by October 15 of the year preceding the program start (or July 31, if you are from Cameroon and therefore have to submit your application to the German Embassy).

Special Application Deadlines

You have to apply more than a year in advance.

For the 2017/18 intake, the deadline for applications is October 15, 2016. Your complete file with all required documents (this includes your English test scores) has to reach the MIPLC by this date. Late or incomplete applications cannot be considered for the scholarship.

Applicants from Cameroon have to submit their application file to the German Embassy in their home country. The deadline for applications is July 31 of the previous year, e.g. July 31, 2016, for the 2017/18 intake.
